Who is actually behind the product HarmonieSchiene?

Behind the HarmonieSchiene is the team from the Orthos specialist laboratory, which has been working as an orthodontic specialist laboratory since 1983.

The company manufactures orthodontic appliances at two laboratory sites: Frankfurt am Main and Weimar in Thuringia.

The Harmonieschiene was developed in 2004 and has since been used for light to moderate corrections of the anterior teeth.

In terms of popularity, however, other companies have already overtaken the Harmonieschiene, although some of them were even founded later.

For example, Dr Smile, which was founded in 2017, is already available in nine countries.

The company has also manufactured more than one million aligners and has over 100,000 completed tooth corrections.

The Orthos specialist laboratory currently cooperates with over 5000 dentists in Germany and neighboring European countries.

In addition to invisible aligners, the company also offers other products. Particularly popular, for example, are the SchlafHarmonie devices, which are designed to prevent snoring.

But Orthos also offers classical orthodontics and early treatment. The company also manufactures sports mouthguards for children and adults.

How does tooth correction with the Harmonieschiene work?

When correcting teeth with the Harmonieschiene, wafer-thin aligners made of a special plastic are used.

These are not only flexible but also completely transparent, allowing for a discreet form of treatment.

The invisible braces are slid over the teeth. They fit so snugly and tightly that third parties can only see them if they look closely.

The shape of the aligners is customized in the laboratory. Thus, they are able to exert constant pressure on the dentition.

In this way, they can push the teeth into the desired position during the course of treatment. Since the Harmonieschiene is only suitable for mild to moderately severe malocclusions, the correction usually takes only 3 to 6 months.

Accordingly, however, only the correction of the visible anterior teeth is possible.

In the case of complicated malocclusions – such as severe overbite, underbite, crossbite or other types of malocclusion – the HarmonieSchiene aligners reach their limits.

By the way, this applies to most aligner providers, including Smileunion, Six Month Smiles, Braceless or PlusDental.

Currently, only Invisalign products are considered for serious tooth correction.

Important to know: Tooth correction with the Harmonieschiene is only suitable for adults over the age of 18. Because at the time of treatment, the dentition (jaw and teeth) should no longer be growing.

Wearing and caring for the Harmieschiene

To achieve the desired result, the invisible braces must be worn for at least 22 hours a day.

In principle, they should only be removed for eating and dental care. When drinking, they can easily remain in the mouth.

After consuming sugary drinks, however, they should be cleaned once briefly and only then used again.

The consumption of coloring beverages – such as red wine, cola or black tea – is also not recommended with aligners.

This is because the color pigments contained in the liquid can cause the sensitive splints to gradually lose transparency and eventually become visible on the teeth.

How does the treatment with the Harmonieschiene proceed?

The first step is to click on the “Find a dentist” button on the HarmonieSchiene website to find a cooperating dentist or orthodontist in your area.

In the next step, you enter your postal code – you will now be shown a list of nearby cooperation partners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Now you can click on “show all contact details”, and make an appointment online or by phone.

This is how it continues after the appointment booking:

  • The dentist or orthodontist takes impressions of the upper and lower jaw and sends them to Orthos in the laboratory.
  • A non-binding offer is then prepared. This contains both the costs and the expected result in the form of a 3D animation.
  • You can now decide whether you want to accept the offer and start correcting your teeth. Costs will only be incurred when you sign the treatment contract.
  • After you receive your custom aligners made in the lab, you can start wearing them immediately.
  • The splints need to be changed every 2 weeks – the treatment is accompanied by a dentist.
  • Retention is required following treatment to prevent the teeth from shifting again. You can use retainer splints or a fine retainer wire for this.

Harmieschiene prices: How much does the treatment cost?

While providers such as DrSmile communicate their prices transparently, the cost structure for the Harmonieschiene is not quite so clear.

An individual pricing model is used here. This means that the cost of straightening teeth varies from case to case.

HarmonieSchiene communicates these prices for its cooperation partners on the official website:

  • Light cases: 898 € (second jaw: 498 €)
  • Moderate cases: 1370 € (second jaw: 498 €)
  • Complex cases: 1898 € (second jaw: 498 €)

But be careful: The HarmonieSchiene prices mentioned here are only the costs incurred for the aligners – the dentist’s fees are charged extra .

On the website, HarmonieSchiene presents three case studies and the corresponding costs for its private customers:

  • Light case (Nina, 3 months): 1.844 €, monthly installment 35,09 € (with interest 2.527,56 €)
  • Medium case (Cornelia, 6 months): 2,601 €, monthly installment 49.49 € (with interest 3,565.18 €)
  • Complex case (Robert, 12 months): 3,171 €, monthly installment 60.34 € (with interest 4,346.48 €)

Here it becomes clear that the dentist’s costs are additionally tidy. You will only find out what the costs will be once you have received your treatment plan.

Basically, the more severe the malocclusion(s), the more aligners are needed and the more expensive the treatment will be.

Financially, it also makes a difference whether only one or both jaws need to be treated.

In the meantime, dental corrections can almost always be paid for in installments. However, the installment payment is not agreed directly with HarmonieSchiene or Orthos, but with the respective dentist or orthodontist.

Unfortunately, the costs of dental correction for adults are not usually covered by health insurance.

However, we still recommend that you do not focus exclusively on price when choosing an aligner provider.

Instead, rely primarily on authentic reviews and research lots of testimonials on the Internet.

Conclusion on the subject of the Harmonieschiene: Does the product deliver what it promises?

The experiences of former and current patients make it clear that discreet tooth straightening with HarmonieSchiene aligners is quite possible.

Invisible dental trays actually work well in many cases and it is not an empty promise.

However, we would always recommend that you research the aligner provider in depth and read as many reviews and testimonials on the internet as possible before making a decision.

However, we found it somewhat difficult to find authentic experiences from former and current patients on the Internet.

For this reason, the established provider DrSmile remains our recommendation for your teeth correction. Here you can find a lot of experience on the Internet – in addition, the price structure is designed transparently.

The company also offers not only a good price-performance ratio but also a satisfaction guarantee in case you are not one hundred percent happy with the result.
